A Sharpened Approach

BVI, a manufacturer of ophthalmic devices, needed a streamlined way to sell their 1,400 products, prove their value, and cut the sales cycle to three months.

Defining the Experience

Collaborating closely with BVI’s marketing and sales team to understand the customer and the buying journey, unique solutions were uncovered through competitive analysis and creative brainstorming.

Exiting the workshop, a prototype was tested with BVI Sales Reps across North America and Europe and the insights  gained during this phase led to small changes to the experience, but overall the reception was highly positive.

The Customer
At the heart of the sales process are three unique customers, each with their own goals and pain points.
The Sales Journey
To understand the sales journey, we mapped out each step, identifying key interactions and decision points.
Competitive Inspiration
We identified unique interactions from a variety of websites that ranged from Audio to Automobile websites.
Sketch, Debate, Repeat
As we diverged, we found dozens of solutions through sprint activities like storyboarding and co-design sessions.
Prototyping a Solution
The team built a clickable prototype to determine if the issues identified during the workshop were addressed.
Testing our Hypothesis
Sales reps in North America and Europe provided in-depth feedback on the prototype, allowing us to pivot quickly.

Bringing it to Life

An intuitive interface to select components, assemble a pack, and deliver a quote.

Armed with key screens and a prototype, we mapped out user flows to accomodate the myriad of ways a Sales Rep could configure a sales quote.

No more guesswork

Instead of using spreadsheets and a catalog, sales reps could filter and serach for specific components and easily add them to a pack. Detailed information with 360º views and large photos enhanced the experience.

Visualize the construction

Users can drag and drop products into containers or layers to adjust how the pack will be assembled.

The application stacks isometric illustrations to visualize how the components will be arranged within the pack.

Clearly Communicate

Upon closing the sale, emails are sent to the customer, manager and production teams. PDF documents can be downloaded that list components and include build instructions.
