Harvard library website redesign

The Brief

Build a best-in-class platform that unites dozens of libraries, resources and tools under a unique visual identity.

The end goal is emphasizing Library.Harvard’s credibility, authority and care through a modern and innovative experience to promote exploration and advance Harvard’s commitment to Advancing Open Knowledge.

Evolving the experience
High-impact pages, like the homepage, showcase the new brand through an expressive interpretation and feature three distinct search experiences and revolving content sections for collections, events, services and tools.

a Flexible template

Template pages blend existing and new components, featuring a more subdued brand language and design adjustments for improved visual hierarchy, readability with narrow text columns, and variation in content block widths.

Extending the brand

CMS-driven pages like news and collections will be reskinned with a subdued brand focusing on typography and color ramp. This brand language can be easily applied to external library websites to build connection with the new brand.
